Jeffrey David Armor (59) of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on July 28, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Born in North Caldwell, New Jersey on November 25, 1963, Jeff spent his formative years growing up in Pittsburgh, PA, resulting in a love for everything Black and Gold. He graduated from Fox Chapel High School in 1982 then traveled across the state to complete his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at Lehigh University where he played, and later coached, men’s soccer.
After graduating from Lehigh University, he found himself on a fateful trip to the Jersey Shore, where , through friends, at a Margate dive bar, he met the love of his life, Alison. The two were married in October of 1989, and together they began a new adventure in life together. After brief moves to Athens, GA, and Columbus, OH where they were blessed with their first two children, JD and Austin, Jeff took his family back to Pittsburgh. There they completed their family of 5 with their third son, Holden. They eventually moved into Jeff’s childhood home in Fox Chapel where they raised their family.
Jeff was renowned for being a loving husband, a dedicated father, an incredible brother, a fun-loving uncle and cherished best friend. Relationships were his foundation. The people around him made his life richer and more complete. As a father he instilled his morals and values into his children leaving room for their own opinions and ideas and maintaining the role of “Biggest supporter”. As a mentor he was always willing to give his undivided attention for career or life advice. As a friend, he had an uncanny ability to sense needs and provide support. Through all relationships he had the ability to make you feel important and he was always interested in everything you had to say. You felt good about yourself when you were with him.
He was a lifelong learner with a passion and impressive knowledge of history and a movie aficionado. Jeff had a profound love for ice cream and Sci-Fi movies and, in the rare moment when he wasn’t on the go, you would find him with a book in hand. He had a zest for travel, exploring both the country and the world. Jeff's wit and humor made him the life of every party and his kind demeanor and intellectual curiosity made him the epitome of a gentleman and scholar. His impact as an idol, role model, and an inspiration will forever be cherished by many.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 33 years, Alison; sons, JD (wife, Chelsea), Austin (soon to be wife, Grace), and Holden; his older siblings Jim (wife, Mary), Diane, and John (wife, Early); a large and loving extended family, and many friends from Pittsburgh, PA to Seabrook Island, SC.
