Jennifer Lynne Althoff, 59 of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Born on May 15, 1967, in Akron, OH, she was a daughter of Carolyn Faye Rowan Gibson and James Robert Gibson, Sr.
Jennifer's greatest pride and joy was her son, Josh, and her two beautiful granddaughters, whom she loved beyond measure. Becoming a grandmother was one of life's greatest blessings, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.
Jennifer proudly served her country in the United States Navy, demonstrating the strength, dedication, and sense of service that would define her throughout her life. Following her military service, she continued as a public servant and devoted 34 years as the Business License Administrator to the City of Goose Creek, where she worked faithfully until her retirement on July 3, 2026. Throughout her career, she was a member of the South Carolina Business Licensing Officials Association, an affiliate of the Municipal Association of South Carolina wherein she received her designation as a Master Business License Official.
Outside of work, Jennifer found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand. She treasured spending time along the Edisto River with her dear friends, where laughter, conversation, and the beauty of nature created cherished memories. Jennifer also had a special bond with her beloved German Shepherd, Atticus, whose loyal companionship brought her comfort, happiness, and unconditional love.
Jennifer's loyalty, kindness, quiet strength, and genuine love for those around her left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Gibson, Jr.
Jennifer is survived by her parents Carolyn Faye Gibson and James Robert Gibson, Sr. of Gibsonburg, Ohio and her son, Joshua Althoff (Harmony) of Walterboro; grandchildren: Brantley, Graycelyn, and Caroline; sisters: Teresa Bruns (Keith) of Gibsonburg, Ohio and Phyllis Oakman (Rick) of Findlay, Ohio; brother, Robert Gibson (Carol), of Oak Harbor, Ohio; her nieces: Sara, Allexis, Lindsey, Katie, Kena, Angel, Samantha, Christine and Kat; and, nephews: Karl, Trevor, Allen, Jimmy Lee, Joseph and Greg.
