Obituary

Listen to Obituary

James (Jimmy) Henderson, 74, of North Charleston, South Carolina, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, August 10th, 2026.

Jimmy was born January 4, 1952, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Vera Garvin, Jasper Henderson and Edward “Ting” Garvin. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, listening to oldies music, and watching his Carolina Gamecocks play every Saturday win or lose.

Jimmy was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent 33 years working for SCE&G. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to his job. His 33 years with SCE&G were an important part of his life and a testament to his dedication and loyalty.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Durham-Henderson of 21 years, his children, Jay Henderson of Summerville, SC, Kelly Henderson of Round O, SC, and Molly Henderson of Goose Creek, SC, and a stepdaughter Chrissy Yonce (Trey) of Cottageville. His eight grandchildren Cinnamin Schott (Jaret), Tanner Henderson, Emily Henderson, Robbie Davis, Brian Davis, and Mason Watkins, Johnny Ray Yonce, and Walker Yonce. He is also survived by sisters Brenda Boudolf and Ellie Harr. He also has several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating his life. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation in Charleston, SC. Funeral services to follow at 10:30 am. Graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at Live Oak Memorial Gardens (3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC). We welcome all who knew and loved him to come together to remember and honor his life.
