John Alexander Davis, Jr., 83, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on March 13, 1942, to John A. Davis, Sr. and Frances Rucker Davis. He attended Columbia city schools before joining the Air Force at age 17.
Johnny served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as a Technical Sergeant with a specialty in Bombardment Aircraft Maintenance. He served three years in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Airman’s Medal for heroism, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four oak leaf clusters, an Air Force Marksman Award (Vietnam Era), and the Air Force Commendation Medal among others. After Johnny’s retirement from the Air Force, he attended Sumter Tech where he earned an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Santee Printworks until his second retirement.
Johnny was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Irmo. Johnny was so proud of his family and loved bragging on his grands. He was an avid animal lover.
Johnny is survived by the love of his life, LouEtta Stewart Davis; his daughter, Brandi (Robert) Burrows; and his grandchildren, Madison and Michael, who loved him so much and called him “Pawpaw.” He is also survived by his four-legged children, Lil Bit and Buddy Bear. Also surviving him is his Friday morning breakfast buddy, JC Ellisor. Johnny was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Jimmy Davis; and his sisters,Dorothy Haggard and Kathy Baird.
Per Johnny’s wishes, no services will be held.
