John Richard Riediger II, 72 of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.
Born on November 25, 1952 in Portsmouth, VA, John was a son of the late Tina (Rogalski) Riediger and John Riediger.
John proudly served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1992. Following his retirement from the Navy, he built a successful career in real estate before founding his own property management company.
He was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed hunting with his grandsons. He took great pride in his lawn and could often be found outside tending to it and engaged in what was jokingly called the "Cold War" over who had the best yard on the street. He was determined to win.
When not outdoors, John loved to "burn some gas," often hopping in his truck for a drive that usually included a stop at the hardware store. He rarely left without a new tool and a good reason to bring one home. John was the life of the party and never passed up an opportunity to travel. Above all, John was a devoted family man. Nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a proud and constant presence at their concerts, meets, graduations, and recitals.
John is survived by his wife, Jackie Riediger; three daughters, Tricia Tetor (Ricky), Michelle Schuchert (Bobby), and Janet Fields (Brodie); 9 grandchildren; his sister, Janet Carter (James); and a host of family and friends that will cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends and family for a celebration of John’s life on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at McAlister-Smith, 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate blood and platelets to an organization of your choosing. In addition, memorial contributions may be made to The Mayo Clinic. These were significant in John’s life because without them, his time with family would have been significantly reduced.
