Jon Edward Walker

Jon Edward Walker (January 14, 1946), 79 years of age, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was the husband of Helen Ho-Walker for 52 years. Born in Mankato, MN, he was the son of the late Frederick Vincent Walker and Esther Marie Carlson.

Jon graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, MN, where he was a national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega member. He continued his education at Arizona State University, obtaining an M.A. in Social Psychology, and later earned a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His pursuit of knowledge also led him to an M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

He served as a Specialist 5th Class in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and his dedicated service earned him the Bronze Star. In his professional career, Jon made contributions in many fields. He taught at the University of Hartford and worked in information technology at Aetna Life & Casualty, Yale University, Hartford Hospital (Research Administration), and the Medical University of South Carolina’s Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. He retired in 2011.

In addition to his wife, Jon is survived by his daughter Mei-Lan Ho-Walker and her husband Tristan Dodds; his son Joshua Ho-Walker and his wife Lillian Goldenthal; and his brother, Lynn Walker and family. Jon’s grandsons in Sydney, Australia, Jack and Evan Dodds, and in Brooklyn, NY, Colton, Brody, and Alden Ho-Walker, brought him great joy and laughter.

Jon will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
