Jose Antonio Perez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on October 18, 1948, and departed this earthly life on June 8, 2026.

He was the beloved son of the late Ismael Perez and Alda Burgos. Jose was a skilled carpenter who worked for himself and had a remarkable ability to build just about anything. His hands created, but more importantly, his heart gave; freely and generously.

Jose cherished every moment spent with Ebbie, his partner and love of 20 years. Together, they created countless beautiful memories that will be treasured forever.

He deeply loved his family. He is survived by his devoted mother, Alda C. Burgos; his loving daughter, Raquel Pickett and her husband, David Pickett, along with grandchildren, Dakirah Thompson, Derrick Thompson Jr., and Jasmine Pickett; his son, Joseph Perez and his wife Sabrina, along with grandchildren Lynea and Jaeren; and his siblings: Edwin A. Perez and his wife Nydia (Edy, Serena, Ed Jr.), Ismael Perez and his wife Rosa (Yajaira and Yonaira), Liz Kennedy Calvert, and James Kennedy (Angel).

Jose had a passion for sports and was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Giants, New York Yankees, and New York Jets. He loved all sporting events, football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, and even the Olympics. He delighted in sharing that excitement and team spirit with family and friends.

He also had a deep love for Puerto Rican food, he simply could not get enough of it.

Jose will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. His amazing spirit, sense of humor, humility, and pure goodness were rare qualities to fine in one person. To know him was to love him; to meet him was to adore him.
