Joseph Ronald Going

Joseph Ronald "Ronnie" Going, 73, of Gaston, SC passed away peacefully and entered Heaven on June 10, 2026.

Born on August 2, 1952 in Union, SC, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Joe Wright Going and Mary Virginia Davis. He spent his life devoted to God, Golden Corral, & the Senior Center. He touched countless lives through gospel singing, talking about Jesus, his friendly personality, his stories, his jokes, & his big smile.

Joseph graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1971. He graduated Tabernacle Bible College in 1983 with his Masters of Theology. He was a long time member of Alpine Baptist Church & was currently attending Christian Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Holder. He worked for Hewitt Robbins, Orkin, Gregory, Terminix, & he retired in 2018 from the State of SC as the pest control technician for the state after 25 & 1/2 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed eating at buffets, hanging with friends, talking about his life, attending church, doing pest control (on the side) for his customers & his yearly vacation with his daughter in Hilton Head. Those who knew "Ronnie" will remember him for his smile, his laugh, & him telling it like it is.

Above all else, Ronnie cherished time spent with his daughter, granddaughter, family & friends. He was a loving Dad, Granddad, Sibling, Uncle, Cousin & friend whose love, guidance, and kindness will be deeply missed.

Ronnie is survived by Marsha Going (daughter), Matthew Going (son), Granddaughter (Alexis Smith), sisters; Delores Long (Lewis Long) & Elisa Large (Thomas Large), neices & nephews and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Joe Wright Going, Mother, Mary Virgina King (Davis), Stepdads Tony McKeown & John King, Ex-wife Gracie Ann Parker (Diane).

A very special thank you to Dorothy Dreher (his best friend & KFC/Burger King buddy), Daryl Graham (his other best friend & Golden Corral buddy), Valeria Hutchinson "Granny" (other best friend who looked after him), and Monica Muller (neighbor) for all they did for him. You have a special place in our hearts.
