Julia Lynn Carlisle

December 21, 1975 — July 5, 2025

Hanahan, SC

Julia Lynn Carlisle, 49, of Hanahan, passed away on July 5, 2025.

Julia came into this world in Austin, Texas and was so beloved. She bravely struggled with severe depression and anxiety in her later years. Sadly, she succumbed to her pain and took her own life. We who loved her are left with a devasting hole in our hearts.

Julia attended Elsik High School in Houston, Texas. She graduated in 1994 and went on to Texas State University where she received her degree in anthropology and sociology. She recently took a break from working and was planning to go back to school and study to become a paralegal. Unfortunately, her mental health deteriorated.

Julia had a unique love of music, which she shared with her Dad. Evenings spent around the table of truth, telling tales, and listening to music were her favorite times. She had many friends who loved her. Her GTO’s Ashley, Alicia, Cheryl, Amy, and Jennifer brought her out of her shell and spent many a wonderful night together.

She is survived by her Mother, Rebecca Carlisle and Father, John Carlisle; Step-father, Bruce McCleary; Half-brother, Jim Ward; Adopted sisters, BeeJay and Sherie; Uncle Jack Johnston, Aunt Lisa Johnston, Aunt Patricia Zimmerman, Uncle Mark Zimmerman (deceased), and Aunt Cheryl Carlisle; Cousins Carissa Zimmerman, Jared Zimmerman, Troy Carlisle, Laura Carlisle and Krystle Keene; and her Aunt Carol Anderson and Uncle Erik.

If you or someone you know is suffering from depression or mental health, please reach out to them and let them know they are not alone. The National Hotline for Mental Health Crisis and Suicide Prevention is a good source.

A Memorial Service for Julia will be held at a later date in Houston, Texas.
