Karl A. Heise, Sr.

Karl Arthur Heise, Sr., 80, of Charleston, S. C., passed away peacefully, on July 22, 2021.
Karl was born on July 5, 1941, in Waukegan, Illinois. Karl was the son of the late John Henry Heise and Eunice Annie Gibbons Heise.
His family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when he was a young boy and he went through school in Fort Lauderdale. After graduating from high school in 1959, he attended the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, where he met Jill Carol Ertmann from Jacksonville, Florida. They married in Jacksonville, in 1963 and their first son, Karl Arthur Heise, Jr., was born there in 1964.
Karl worked as a salesman in the graphic arts industry and continued in this business moving to New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island where he was a manufacturer of graphic arts equipment. His second son, Jonas Orman Heise was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1976. They moved to Reston, Virginia in the mid-'80s, and finally to Kiawah Island and Charleston, SC in 1989.
Karl then became an entrepreneur and developed an environmentally safe cleaning solution and even made products for George Foreman. Karl was always extremely respected in the business world. He was always well-liked and would charm everyone he talked to with his personality and wit. He was a fantastic salesman his whole life and passed that trait on to his sons. Karl never met a stranger and always knew how to put a smile on your face. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Karl is preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Jonas Heise, who passed away very suddenly with heart issues on June 7, 2021.
Karl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jill Carol Ertmann Heise, his son Karl Arthur Heise, Jr., and his grandchildren, Derek Austin Heise, 25 years; Kayla Elise Heise, 18 years; Izabella Marie Heise, 14 years; Jonas O. Heise, Jr. (JJ) 12 years; and Leah Jane Heise 10 years. Karl is also survived by his four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
There will be a celebration of his life in Jacksonville, Florida in August 2021 and his burial will also be in Jacksonville,
His family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Roper Hospital for their kindness and excellent care for the past 5 months.
