We gather with heavy hearts to honor the life of Lee B. Nabors, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Lee was born on December 27, 1934, in Alamance, NC, to the late Maggie Layton Black and Carlie Vance Black.
A distinguished graduate of Nathaniel Green High School, Lee earned a full academic scholarship to Appalachian State University. Her passion for basketball shone through as she played for the city of Greensboro until she was seven months pregnant. Lee's fierce love for her family was evident in the way she cherished holidays, hosting gatherings that brought everyone together. She instilled the values of family, care, and love in her children, setting an inspiring example for all.
Lee's home became a haven for neighborhood kids and friends in need, reflecting her generous spirit. As an avid gardener, she could be found tending to her flower beds right up to the end of her life. With over 30 years as a regional manager for AVIS Rent A Car before retiring, she left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Lee is preceded in death by her husband Dewey Moon, sister Brenda Kivett, and grandsons George Lyman Donnelly III and Dewey Robert Donnelly.
She is survived by her husband Dennis Bailey, sons David Moon (Jackie) and Clate Moon, daughters Caroline Donnelly (George) and Sonja Taylor (Mark), grandsons Joseph Donnelly, Joel and Justin Bulgarino, and Jonathan Nabors, granddaughters Amber and Anna Moon, Payton and Haven Moon, and Carlie and Cayla Taylor, along with 10 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Lee and Dennis' home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Please contact family for further information.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Trinity Bible Church, 3589 Mary Ader Avenue, Charleston, SC 29414. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
