Levi Jay Johnson

Levi Jay Johnson, 68, of Meggett, SC, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016. He was born on Friday, July 18, 1947, in Charleston, SC, to the late Shirley Jensen Johnson and Levi Manley Johnson. Jay was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved animals, especially his dogs. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting. He was a life-long member of the NRA and the Partridge Creek Gun Club. His family will remember him as a selfless individual, always doing for others. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy Massenburg Johnson of Meggett, SC; son, Bryan Johnson and his wife, Eralyn, of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Elizabeth Taylor and her husband, Dustin, of Greenville, SC; granddaughter, Izabella Johnson of Goose Creek, SC; brothers: Jimmy, Jerry, Joe, Johnny, Jan Johnson and partner, Bruce Bryson; sisters: Lynn Murphy and Shelley Snowman; sister-in-law, Sherry Johnson; nieces and nephews: Jenn, Karen, Andrew, Michael and wife, Nancy, and Mary; numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his best friends, Jan Kauser and “Chewy”. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. A funeral service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00Am, with Pastor Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Christ St. Paul's Episcopal Parish Cemetery, Yonges Island, SC. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ St. Paul’s Cemetery, 4981 Chapel Road, Yonges Island, SC 29449.
