Louise Della Harp Burke Howell

Louise Della Harp Burke Howell, 96, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 25th, 2024.

Louise was born on January 25th, 1928, in Homerville, Ga. She was the firstborn child of the late Mac Harp, Sr. and the late Toni Harp, followed by her beloved sister, Fay Harp Knotts.           

When her Mother died, Louise and her sister, Fay, were cared for by their grandparents for many years until their father remarried and they moved to Savannah, GA. Siblings Mac Harp, Jr., Patsy Harp and William Ray Harp followed to make a complete, happy family.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents: father, Mac Harp, Sr.; mother, Toni Harp; and stepmother, Zeda Harp; sisters, Fay Harp Knotts and Patsy Harp Nesmith; and brothers, Mac Harp, Jr. and William Ray Harp.

Louise was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Larry H. Burke, Sr., then her late beloved second husband, Dr. James S. Howell, Jr. and her son, Richard  Mac  Burke.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Esther L. Uncapher (Ray) and her son, Larry H. Burke, Jr. (Jana); grandchildren: Bryan Burke, Mason Burke and Holly Benke; great-grandchildren: Isabella Burke, Oliver Burke, soon-to-be baby brother to Isabella and Oliver, Jack Burke, Kayla Cofield, Christopher Cofield and Julieanne Gildea. Louise is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved brother-in-law, Howard Knotts; and Lucy the wonder dog.

Louise's professional career was in the grocery business. She was a cashier at Pantry Pride and many years at James Island Piggly Wiggly as office manager/head cashier.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
