Lunnette Chastain Kinard

Lunnette Chastain Kinard, 91, of Folly Beach, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, after a long illness. She died peacefully.

Born on October 8, 1934, in Coolidge, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Eula Chastain and Lois Andy Chastain.

Lunnette was known for her fun and funky personality and her creative spirit. She was a local artist and an accomplished business manager. For many years, she operated Chastain’s Cottages on Folly Beach, the oldest vacation rental company on the island, established in 1941. Deeply connected to the Folly Beach community, she also held the title of Miss Folly Beach in 1958.

Lunnette is preceded in death by Eula Chastain (Mother) and Lois Andy Chastain (Father).

Lunnette is survived by Alicia Kinard (Daughter).

A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a future date.
