Mack Hoyt Johnson, 86, of Wadmalaw Island, SC, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 peacefully in his sleep. He was born on April 19, 1936, in Horry County, SC son of the late Lewis Solomon Johnson and Mary Elizabeth (Jones) Johnson. He served in the Army as Corporal before working as a motor winder for 38 years.
 
Mack was married to his second wife and soul mate, Ann Marie Johnson, for 27 years before she passed away in 2015. They enjoyed gardening, canning, playing BINGO and watching their favorite tv shows together. After her passing, he carried on by finding the best coupon deals, playing BINGO, eating at various restaurants with friends, doting on his dogs, Toby and Lucky, and helping friends by either picking up their groceries, fixing and mending things, or offering helpful (expert) advice on gardening and plants.
 
He had many names: Daddy, Pappy, Pappaw, and Grandpa. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his mother and father, Mack was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Johnson, his sister, Ozenia Johnson Huggins, brother, Hubert Johnson, and daughter Mary Ellen Brown.

He is survived by his brother: Willie Troy Johnson (Mavis) of Moncks Corner, SC; three daughters: Donna O’Kelly (Sean) of Idaho Falls, ID; Anita Johnson (Walter Dominique) of New Orleans, LA; Pamela Mozick (Don) of Jacksonville, FL; two sons: Arthur England (Lynne) of Summerville, SC; Kenneth England (Teresa) of Johns Island, SC; son-in-law, Clarence Brown of Johns Island, SC; nine grandchildren: Erin O’Kelly (David Debeau) of Austin, TX; Devin O’Kelly of Dallas, TX; Jill Chaisson of Idaho Falls, ID; Christopher Mozick (Melissa) of Honolulu, HI; Melissa Mulkey (Ashanti) of Jacksonville, Fl; Amy Ostrom (Ken) Moncks Corner, SC; Christina McLain of NC; Ashley Locklear (Stone) of Irmo, SC; Dennis Brown of TX; fourteen great-grandchildren: Yamileth Mozick, Shelynn Mozick, Keyanna Mozick, Ava Mozick, Donovan Mulkey, Amaya Mulkey, Bishop Ostrom, Kenzie Ostrom, Emerson England, Marlee McLain, River McLain, Destiny Brown and Katie Brown, and Paisley Locklear; and companion Merry Dupuis.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2022 at McAlister-Smith West Ashley. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston, SC.
