Lisa Coughlin, a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026 at aged 66. Born on July 8th, 1959, in Columbia, South Carolina, Lisa was welcomed into the wonderful home of the late James and Margaret Stone, to complete their family alongside her three older brothers.
As a mother, Lisa, was everything her kids needed her to be. She showed each of them how to accomplish their goals and prosper in an honest life without shorting others. She is predeceased by her husband, Earl Coughlin, and her granddaughter, Sarah Eubanks, whom she now joins in their eternal rest. She is survived by her children, James Eubanks alongside his wife Kristina, Campbell Coughlin, John Coughlin and his wife Ashley, and Lisa’s daughter, Margaret Coughlin. She is also survived by her brothers, Jake, Fred, and Craig Stone, as well as her grandson, Jake Eubanks.
Lisa graduated high school from Brookland Cayce where she excelled as an All-American tennis player, one of the best in the state. She furthered her education by earning her bachelors degree at the University of South Carolina. She loved cheering on the Gamecocks with her children, especially during college football and women’s basketball seasons.
Being a woman of many talents, Lisa had a variety of jobs growing up and was always doing what was best for her family. After some time she settled on being a church secretary at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church in Blythewood, where she worked for many years and eventually was able to retire. She loved putting the bulletin together and preparing the church signage, often asking for ideas and proofreading from her mother and her children during her long tenure there.
Lisa had a wonderful life as she enjoyed spending time outside, from riding her bike, to walking her dog, to soaking up the sun with her friends and family at the rapids. She was fortunate enough to have travelled with her family and friends throughout her life and these memories will always persist in her loved ones that meant a great deal to her. In her own words, “there is family, there are people, and everything else, is just stuff.”
A service celebrating Lisa’s life will be held at Mccallister-Smith Funeral home on Thursday June 4th from 4:00-6:00pm at 200 State Street in West Columbia.
