Margaret Lynette Baker, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Born on May 17, 1935 in Florence, SC she was a daughter of the late Leolun Pigate (Vause) and Hoyt Pigate.
In Lynette's more active years, she loved working in her yard and piddling around looking for things to do to keep her outside. One of her favorite pastimes was blowing the leaves from one side of the property to the other, making sure she got every leaf. She loved the task even though there was usually more leaves when she finished than when she started. She always had a smile on her face.
In addition to her parents, Lynette is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Baker; daughter, Vickie Scrughan; sons-in-law, Jack Scrughan and Robert Reid; sisters, Willie Lee Johnson and Gladys Lee; brothers, Robert Pigate and Randy Pigate.
Lynette is survived by her sons, Ronald Alexander (Rhonda) and Larry Alexander both of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter, Judy Reid of Santa Rosa, California; grandchildren, Spencer Reid (Jessica), Amanda Reid, both of Santa Rosa, California, Allison Fowler (Aaron) of Sharon, South Carolina, Cimberly Gibson (Kensey) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Joseph Scrughan (Wendy), Bryn (Tiffany) and Bobby Alexander, all of Charleston, South Carolina. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Barbara White; brother, Joe Pigate (Priscilla) and sister-in-law Diane Pigate.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation ~ James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, South Carolina 29412.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM held at Bethany Baptist Cemetery, Timmonsville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Road, Charleston, South Carolina 29412.
