Margaret "Margie Walker Limbaker

Margaret “Margie” Walker Limbaker, born April 24, 1947, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the home she shared with her husband, Francis Lewis Limbaker in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Margie was 78 years old when she was called home to be with the Lord. Those blessed to call Margie family or friend know she was the most loving, happy and joyful person you would ever know.

She was predeceased by her father and stepmother, George Tillman Walker (Joyce) and her mother, Margaret Maguire Walker.

Margie and Francis “Bubba” were married for 53 years; they lived on Klein Street for 50 years where they raised their family until 2024, when they moved into independent living in Mount Pleasant.

They have one daughter, Kimberly, who went to Heaven in 1999, and one son, Skip, residing in Greenville, SC with his wife, Elizabeth, who is affectionately known as her “daughter-in-love”; and Margie’s two pride and joys, her grandsons, Mills (16) and Grayson (13), whom she adored. She was most proud of her grandsons and loved to spend as much time with them as possible, and would always share stories and pictures of them when she wasn’t with them. Margie has a sister and brother in Charleston, Brenda Reeves (Hoap) and Roger Walker. She also has a brother-in-law, Samuel Limbaker (Barbara) in Mount Pleasant and a sister-in-law, Martha Ann Freeman (Johnny) in Charleston. In addition, she has many relatives, including numerous cousins whom she held close and stayed in touch with her entire life. She also has many very special nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own, as well as their children, as the families all grew. She also has numerous friends who are like family to her.

Margie grew up in West Ashley and attended Blessed Sacrament, followed by Bishop England High school and later, radiology school. She enjoyed working with people as a teller in the banking industry until Skip and Kimberly attended Christ Our King-Stella Maris School. She volunteered there so much that she eventually took a full-time position as librarian to be close to her children until going back into banking after they left COK-SM. 

She was a lifelong devout Catholic, who loved the Lord and raised her children in the church and set the best example of how to love and live like a true Christian. She leaves the most loving legacy possible and will be greatly missed, but she is reunited with Kimberly and her family in Heaven until we all see her again there as well.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, SC.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, 211 Freeman Street, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
