Early this morning our dad, Martin Alphin (74) was called home to his final heavenly resting place. He is pain free and resting peacefully. He was a man of God and we know he was met in Heaven by our sweet Nana and Papa Gene.
As a dad he was simply the best. John and I are mirror images of him. We never wanted for anything growing up and he sacrificed everything to ensure we had the best. Dad often left for work before the sun came up and got home just in time for family dinner all while rarely missing us participate in a swim meet, soccer match, baseball game or golf tournament. We would be nothing without his love and sacrifice.
At age 19 dad was critically injured in a motorcycle accident that nearly claimed his life. Even through life altering injuries that wreck never defined him. He worked in commercial construction project management for over 40 years building everything from big city commercial office buildings to fine dining restaurants across the Southeast. Dad left his mark on many downtown landscapes including Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Richmond, VA and our birthplace Clarksville, TN. He was meticulous in detail and sought after for his spot on cost estimations for large projects. A fiercely smart man who was quick witted and quietly humorous.
Dad you will be greatly missed, but we are grateful you are no longer in pain and suffering. We love you dad.
Ryan and John
