Mary Craven

Mary Lorraine Craven, 80, of Johns Island, Sc, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Born on January 23, 1945, in Charleston, SC, Mary was a daughter of the late Daisy Carter Craven and the late Lawton J. Craven, Sr..

Mary loved to sew, farm, cook, and sing old gospel songs, but most of all, she loved her family and friends. She was a caregiver at heart. Anytime anyone needed her, all you had to do was call, and without hesitation, she would come.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Lawton J. Craven, Sr. and Daisy B. Craven; and brothers, Lawton J. Craven, Jr. and Benjamin E. Craven Sr.

Mary is survived by her nephew, Benjamin Craven (Cindy); niece, Cynthia Shiell (Jamie); two great nephews, Johnathan White (Makayla) and Leland Shiell; great niece, Summer Shiell; and great-great niece, Annelaine White.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, August 18, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414. The burial will immediately follow at Saint Lawrence Cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina.
