Matthew Collins Chandler

Our cherished son, Matthew Collins Chandler, 30, formally of Travelers’ Rest, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on November 2, 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina.  Born on December 23,1988 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Matthew was the son of parents Michael Collins Chandler and Susan Combs Chandler, and birth mother and husband, Tina Berardinelli Collins and Joseph E. Collins, Jr., of Piedmont, South Carolina. 

Matthew proudly held the honor of Eagle Scout.  It was with pride and talent that he worked in the culinary industry, and his endeavor was to educate and advance his career with a genuine love of cuisine.  He was currently employed at the Park Café in Charleston.  
Matthew was loving, intelligent, kind, talented, confident, athletic (with a great love of soccer), handsome and  charismatic. He loved people and was able to forge immediate relationships with everyone he met.  

Besides his parents, Matthew is survived by his beloved fiancée, Kimberly Caldwell and her son Sebastian Kawula and the Chandler’s granddaughter, Campbell Grace Knight.  He was loved and supported by Aunts, Bonnie Combs Jilani of Cary, NC; Tammy Combs Surles and Uncles Michael S. Surles of Pittsboro, NC and Dale Chandler and wife Lesa Chandler of Central, SC. He will be deeply missed by cousins Aziz and Mohammed Jilani of Cary, NC; Kelly Surles of Pittsboro, NC; Christa Surles Mendes and husband Joseph and daughter Cecilia Mendes, stationed with USAF in Wiesbaden, Germany; Jake Chandler of Central SC.  

Matthew is survived by and held a special relationship with his birth mother, Tina Berardinelli Collins and her husband, Joseph E. Collins, Jr.  He is also survived by extended loving cousins and other Berardinelli family members. He was preceded in death by his maternal birth grandparents, Norman and Sandra Berardinelli of Greenville, SC and maternal birth great grandmother, Susan Capri Berardinelli of Roseville, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Matthew’s memory may be sent in support of his respect and admiration of the work of non-profit organization, FAVOR Greenville, 355 Woodruff Road, #303, Greenville, SC  29607.
