Melvin Duane Bundy

Melvin Duane Bundy, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

Born on July 6, 1936, in Auburn, KS, Melvin was the son of the late Aileen Henderson Bundy and the late Porter Bundy. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents.

He was a Navy veteran serving in the Civil Engineer Corps. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas in 1959. He was a professional engineer registered in several states and worked as a consulting engineer in Charleston, SC for 42 years. He was a life member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and a past president of the Charleston Chapter. He was member of Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Vera Ann Mason Bundy; daughters, Cindy Fowler (Randy) and Kim Thomas (Robert); grandchildren: Megan Myers (TJ), Will Rumbaugh (Candice), Mackenzie Fowler; and great-grandchildren: William Addison Rumbaugh V, Emmalynn Rumbaugh, Reagan Myers and Reese Myers.

The family would like to acknowledge the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital and NHC Healthcare Charleston for the excellent care and compassion given to him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley. Inurnment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
