Mercedes Ramos

Mercedes Ramos, 86, of Ladson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by her family from a short battle with dementia.

Born on September 17, 1938, in Aguada, PR, Mercedes was a daughter of the late Matea (Cordero) Mercado and Cornelio Mercado.

She moved to Meriden, CT, at 21 years of age with her husband, Andres, and raised five children. She was employed for over 25 years at AGC in South Meriden, CT. She enjoyed yard work, cooking, and making pasteles with her kids and grandkids. She loved to dance and thrived in the company of the family she created. She also didn’t mind taking a shot or two of her favorite tequila. She was small but fierce. Taking care of her family fulfilled her, even when it meant that everyone sat around the table and enjoyed the meal she prepared. She came from very humble beginnings, which is why she would welcome almost anyone into her home. She was the core of the family.

Mercedes is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelio and Matea Mercado; husband of over 50 years, Andres Ramos, Jr.; and son, Jorge Ramos.

Mercedes is survived by her two daughters, Iris Ramos and Aixa Mercedes; two sons, Alberto Ramos and Roberto Ramos (Delfina); five grandchildren, Vanessa Garcia (Rob), Desmond Ramos and partner Gloria, Nessa Aminee (Maryam), Ethan Merturi and fiancé Sarah, and Alexis Merturi; five great grandchildren, Kaylee, Riley, Noah, Domenic, and baby Elliot; many nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered for her infectious smile and unconditional love.
