Nancy J. Young (Metz), 80, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Born on November 13, 1945, in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Dorothy “Dot” (Congleton) and William Metz.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dennard Young.
She is lovingly mother survived by her daughter, Jeanette Yochim (Joe); her grandchildren Kimberly Theresa Pike (John), John “LJ” Massimo Ciaranca, and Julia Lynn Armstrong (Sonny); and her cherished great-grandchildren Landin Thomas Pike, Naomi Paige Ciaranca, Wyatt Joseph Pike, Lucy Ray Ciaranca, Luca Michael Armstrong, and Miles Joseph Armstrong. Nancy’s family was the center of her world, and she took great pride and joy in each generation that followed her.
Nancy lived a full and beautiful life and was deeply loved by all who knew her. At just 18 years old, she was crowned Miss Collingdale in 1963, a reflection of the grace, confidence, and spirit she carried throughout her life.
Over her career she found her passion for business and was a District Manager for Avon for more than 15 years where her district was constantly ranked in the top 5 of the company. She had a remarkable talent for sewing and design, which led her to become a successful business owner. Nancy founded and operated Cloud Nine Bridal Shop, a beloved bridal boutique with three locations throughout Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Through her shops she helped dress thousands of brides, bridal parties, mothers of the bride, and young women preparing for prom. She found joy in being part of life’s most special moments for so many families.
While running her businesses and raising her daughter, Nancy remained determined to continue her education. After closing her bridal shops, she returned to school and later obtained her real estate license, helping many families find homes throughout Delaware County.
Her professional journey eventually led her to Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County, where she served as an HR Manager until her retirement.
More than 25 years ago, Nancy relocated to the Myrtle Beach area, where she enjoyed the coastal life she loved so much.
Nancy was also a Past Matron of the Prospect Park Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was actively involved and formed many meaningful friendships. Nancy loved to travel, go shopping and attending the Miss America parade in Atlantic City NJ every year
Her faith was a guiding force in her life. Nancy was a devoted Christian who loved serving her church and found great joy in singing in the choir.
Nancy will be remembered for her strength, kindness, entrepreneurial spirit, deep faith, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the family she cherished so deeply.
Funeral services will be private and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the Dementia Society of America at Dementia Society of America">Dementia Society of America.
