Patricia Chesnut Brady

Patricia (Pat) Chesnut Brady, 90, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. 

Pat was born on April 20, 1935, in Jamaica, NY. Pat was the daughter of the late Anna Walters Chesnut and Harold Chesnut. Raised in Floral Park, NY, Pat graduated from Sewanhaka High School 1953 and attended Bethany College in WV, receiving a bachelors degree in 1957. Later, while teaching elementary school in Long Island, NY, she earned a master’s degree in education from Hofstra University. In 1962, she met the love of her life, Terence (Terry) Henry Brady, and the two married on July 6, 1963. They raised their children, Megan, Terence and Maura, in Ardsley, NY, before retiring to Charleston, S.C., in the late 1990’s.

Pat enjoyed making time for arts and crafts, playing bridge, and participating in many women’s clubs and associations. Pat was a tutor to students and served as an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ardsley, participating in the “folk group” choir. In addition, Pat served as a catechist for religious education and held classes at the family home, much to the delight of her pupils. Pat’s friendship, kindness, and generosity were hallmarks to her life. Her steadfast dedication to her family and friends continues to serve as a bright light for all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pat is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Chesnut. 

Pat is survived by her daughters, Megan (Bryan Hartin) and Maura (Daniel Conway); son, Terence Brady Jr. (Kim); grandchildren: Ian Hartin, Gavin Hartin, Delaney Hartin, Grace Brady, Caroline Brady, and Liam Conway; and great-granddaughter, Delia Hartin.

Services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mt Pleasant, SC 29466.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
