Paul Stuart Hart, 89, of Charleston, SC, entered eternal peace on August 27, 2026.

Paul was born in Arden, NC, to Volley Hart and Jane Buckner Hart on August 28, 1937. 

After graduating from Valley Springs High School, he married his childhood sweetheart, Cecily Gasperson. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on August 25, 2026. After serving in the U.S. Navy, they relocated to Charleston and Paul went to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the Omar Shrine Temple for over 50 years. Paul loved to fish and spend time with his wife and family. He retired after 33 years of service at Charleston Naval Shipyard as the Production Control Officer. During retirement Paul and Cecily traveled extensively throughout the United States in their Discovery RV. Later in life he enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his wife Cecily; his 4 children: Mike Hart (Debbie) of Las Cruces, NM; Doug Hart of Columbia, SC; Suzanne Kennedy (Danny) of Summerville, SC and Greg Hart (Nancy) of Charleston, SC; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Hickox of Jacksonville, FL.

Paul follows his parents and his sister, Betty Best, into God's embrace.

The family will host visitation Tuesday, September 1, 2026, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road, Charleston, SC, followed by burial at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston, SC.
