Phillip Ray Allen, 82 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Born on October 25, 1943, in Tullahoma, TN and  was a son of (the late) Alice Allen (Foy) and Oliver Allen. Phillip attended Dixon Elementary School in Holly Ridge, NC and graduated from New Hope High School in Goldsboro, NC. He attended Wilmington College (nka Millermotte College) in Wilmington, NC, where he studied business.

He proudly served in the National Guard from 1963-1969.

Phillip was a member of Hibben United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. In his later years he attended the Church at LifePark. He faithfully read his Bible, completing the text several times. He studied the text and applied the lessons to his daily life.

He loved the sea (and seafood, especially oysters), earning his captain’s license, sailing from NC to the Bahamas on his Gulfstar 42, in 1986, and traveling the Intercoastal Waterway along the North and South Carolina coasts. Phil was a hard working, devoted family man and a self-styled bon-vivant and raconteur, enjoying every opportunity for an adventure, especially road trips through the West and the National Parks, and wampus cat hunting with his grandchildren in the wilds of Eastern North Carolina. He was an avid sports fan, especially Carolina TarHeel basketball. Phillip loved riding his bicycle with his wife Pam and his Bengal cat, TigerLilly, and could be found pedaling around his neighborhood into his 80s.

Phillip is preceded in death by Oliver Allen (Father), Alice Allen (Mother), Jane Holmes (former spouse).

Phillip is survived by Pamela Allen (Wife), daughters Amanda Hale (George), Jamie Cox (Kelley), Allison Berberick (Bruce), son Walter Allen (Terri), grandchildren Elizabeth Hale, Marshall Hale, Phillip Hale, Oliver Cox, Miller Cox, Rebekah Jones (Joshua), Janie Kight, and great grandchildren Forrest Jones, Oakley Jones, Brayden Penny, Colton Penny, and Kylie Penny.
