Rachel Amanda Fulton

Rachel Amanda Fulton, 55, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. 

Born on November 6, 1969, in Savannah, GA, Rachel was the daughter of Virginia Sledge Fulton and the late Robert Fulton. After her family moved to Charleston in 1972, Rachel lived most of her life in the West Ashley area. 

Rachel attended First Baptist School of St. Andrews, Orange Grove Elementary School, Wallace Middle School, Middleton High School, and Trident Technical College. She enjoyed cooking, decorating her home, working with flowers, visiting with friends and helping her mother. Rachel was a great cook and her family agreed that she made the best lasagna in town. Rachel loved the salt water, rivers and beaches. On a hot summer day her favorite place to be was Folly Beach. 

She was a Christian and loved the Lord. When she was little, she enjoyed going to Vacation Bible School. Rachel loved going to church with her friends. 

Rachel was such an outgoing person. Even though she was a "girly girl", she also enjoyed going on camping trips with her Brownie troupe, visiting Bonnie Doone, and going on ski trips. Rachel took dancing lessons - she loved performing on stage at recitals. She was also a cheerleader for her brother’s little league team. 

When Rachel was sick, her loyal friends of over 40 years visited her. One of her nurses asked her what her goals and desires were for her last days. Rachel replied that she wished to see Josh graduate from high school and sign papers to join the National Guard. Through the grace of God, she was able to do that. 

Rachel was a kind and loving mother. Her family will remember her as a loving, generous, and joyful person. 

Rachel will be greatly missed by her son, Joshua Harley; mother, Virginia Fulton; son, Joshua Harley; brother; Brian Fulton; aunts, Stella Wiggins and Caroline Yeomans; uncle, David Fulton; and Burnie Harley, whom she was with for 30 years; as well as her beloved dog, Roxy. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston, SC.
