Richard Edward "Rip" Haile

Richard “Rip” Edward Haile, 75 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. 

Born on February 12, 1947 in Chester, SC he was a son of the late Mattie Mae Haile (Whittle) and Edward Haile. 

Rip attended Clemson University and went on to become an Account Executive for the Military and Defense division of Snap-On Tools. He married his first love, Helen and were married for 51 years. They had one daughter, Stacie.

Rip was an avid hunter and fisherman. He formed a hunting club at his family’s property in Chester, SC where many friends gathered for hunting and comradery. He always appreciated good food and eventually became a self-proclaimed “chef extraordinaire” of the Haile house, making gourmet meals nearly every night. 

After retiring from Snap-On, Rip could be found watching Fox News or loving on his beloved kitties. Rip was known for his kind-heartedness, his unending passion for politics, and his love for his family. 

Richard is preceded in death by Edward Haile (Father), Mattie Mae Haile (Mother), Mert Whittle (aunt).

Richard is survived by his wife, Helen Haile, daughter, Stacie Haile and granddaughter Abigail Weckbacher.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 1:00pm- 2:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road in Mt. Pleasant, SC. 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, directly following the visitation. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL, 32256.
