Richard Arnold Schoppe, age 79, of Bonneau, SC, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.

Born on March 5, 1943, in Chicago, IL Richard was the son of the late Bernice (Risch) Schoppe and Arnold Schoppe.

Richard “Papa” was a devout Christian who loved his Lord. He met his wife of 55 years while working as a lineman for Edison electric company out of Chicago, Illinois, his hometown, later moved to Charleston, South Carolina where they started their family. He went on to become the General Manager of Carolina Shipping Company and later owned two successful businesses.

He enjoyed boating, camping, fishing and watching his Chicago Bears but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a strong, determined and courageous man on the outside but a very caring, loving and kind person on the inside. He was respected and admired by everyone. He was an overall great man who will be remembered with love, honor and tenderness.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Barbara Schoppe.

Richard is survived by two daughters, Kristan Vincent (Fred) and Kelly Rodriguez; three grandchildren: Ashley Rodriguez, Kaylee Rodriguez, and Kadyn Vincent; three great-grandchildren, Ayden Rodriguez, Trenton Rodriguez, and Kay’Mere Fuller; one brother, Dennis Schoppe and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private funeral service and burial.
