Dr. Fredric "Rick" Boockfor

Dr. Fredric “Rick” Boockfor of Johns Island, SC passed away at the age of 72 on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Born on June 26, 1951, he was raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Penn State, Duquesne, and Clemson universities.
 
Rick worked in the state of South Carolina as an endocrinologist and reproductive physiologist researcher for 28 years. When he was at USC School of Medicine he twice won the Faculty Member of The Year Award for teaching. While at the Medical University of South Carolina he was the director of the Molecular Dynamics Laboratory where he studied cell research. He was honored to serve on several NIH study sessions. He was currently teaching anatomy and histology online for the American Public University System.
 
He loved working with his son Andrew in A&R Pest Control, the family business. He was honored to be a member of BNI where he enjoyed connecting with other local business people.
 
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loui, and his son, Andrew, of Johns Island, SC. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bob Adamson. LoraLee, Desi, Derek, and Robby will miss their Uncle Book. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Boockfor, and his parents Rosa and Art Boockfor.
 
Rick was a member of Seacoast Church, James Island, and served as an elder for eight years. He loved living at and taking care of Seasong Horse Farm on Johns Island. Bible study, reading, skiing, riding the tractor, going to the gym, and helping others gave his life joy and meaning.

Friends and family will gather on Saturday, for a celebration of life, March 16, 2024 from 2pm to 5pm, for a celebration of life, at 2988 Plow Ground Road, Johns Island, SC, 29455.
