Robert
Beyer
January 6, 1978 – April 9, 2026
In Loving Memory of Robert Raymond Morey Beyer
Born on January 6, 1978, Rob left us before we had a chance to say goodbye on April 9, 2026. For almost 22 of his 48 years with us, he was proud to work for Costco Wholesale. He was deeply committed to his work and the path he forged, yet he carried a depth and complexity that extended far beyond what the world often saw.
Born in Cortland, New York, spending most of his childhood in the Midwest, Rob showed early on that he moved to the rhythm of his own drum. He graduated high school at just 16, already demonstrating the curiosity and drive that would define his life. He went on to attend college in Denver, where he became a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos, a loyalty he carried proudly wherever life took him. After college, Rob ventured back and forth between New York and Kansas, before eventually finding his home in Charleston, South Carolina. There, he turned his artistic eye into a business, opening a photography studio downtown. Through his lens, he captured moments both big and small, always with a sense of authenticity and heart. Though the studio eventually closed, Rob carried that same drive and charisma into his next chapter, where he became a familiar face at Costco in West Ashley -eventually assisting with the opening of a new location in Mount Pleasant, but landing back in West Ashley with his most recent promotion to Assistant Warehouse manager.
Rob had a deep appreciation for the finer (and more fun) things in life. He loved the timeless style of the Rat Pack, the wit of classic comedy, and the soul of blues and rock music. A self- taught guitarist, he found joy and solace in music. He could often be found enjoying a good bourbon, sharing stories over a great meal, or creating one himself-he was, by all accounts, a fantastic cook who brought people together around the table.
Above all, Rob's heart belonged to his beloved dogs, Chewy and Jyn, who were truly his world. He adored them with a devotion that was unmistakable-whether it was spending time outdoors, quiet moments at home, or simply making sure they were always close by. They were his constant companions, his comfort, and a source of unconditional love that he returned tenfold. Anyone who knew Rob knew just how deeply he cared for them.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Morey. He is survived by his mother, Joanne (Joan) Shadinger; his siblings, Jo (Joanne), Michael, and Elizabeth; and his chosen family-Brian Lam, Jaclyn Carley, Justin Glay, Anne Effenberger, Paul Effenberger, Lola DiMattei, Derek Gonzalez, and many more- who will miss his humor, passion, and unmistakable presence, but will carry his memory forward with love.
Rob has now found peace after a long and private struggle - he will be remembered for his quick wit, his generous spirit, and the way he made ordinary moments feel extraordinary. His passing is a reminder of the importance of compassion, connection, and supporting one another through life's challenges. His story lives on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest memorial contributions be made to an animal rescue of your choice as a reminder of the love he carried for his pets.
Rob's final care has been entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445, (843) 553-1511. Following Rob's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
