Robert "Bob" Paul
Gregowicz
Oct 11, 1953 — Jul 14, 2026
North Charleston, South Carolina
Robert Paul Gregowicz, 72, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Born on October 11, 1953, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Bob was the son of the late Anne Karpowicz Gregowicz and Onufrey Gregowicz.
Bob was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force. During his career he served as a medic, working in the hospital Emergency Room at Webb AFB, TX. He then flew for 8 years with the 357th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Scott AFB, IL. His next duty was teaching at the Air Force School of Health Care Sciences at Sheppard AFB, TX. He then came to Charleston AFB to teach at the NCO Leadership School. After his assignment finished, he served in a leadership role at the Charleston AFB clinic. Bob's final tour of duty was with the medical facility at Kunsan AFB, South Korea.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Bob attended Gupton Jones mortuary school in Atlanta, GA. He worked several years in the funeral industry as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was then employed for 24 years at the Medical University of South Carolina in Decedent Affairs. Bob retired from MUSC in 2021.
Bob had a quick wit and sense of humor that was legendary, as everyone who met him quickly discovered. He was also an avid reader of anything in print, but he especially loved the daily newspaper. He loved modern computers, television, and radio technology, as well as everything about airplanes, airports, and weather. Bob loved music and was usually listening to something during his waking hours. He especially enjoyed going to the North Charleston Pops concerts. He was a huge Disney World fan, where he loved to be a kid again with his grandsons. He loved his family immeasurably and was happiest when he was spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Bob had a deep, quiet faith and great love for our Father in Heaven. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his sister Joanne Gregowicz, his sister Carol McClure, and his brother Phillip Gregowicz.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Lynn; his daughter Claire Gregowicz Parascandolo (Ivan); grandsons Paul Gregowicz, Noah Dunbar, Jacob Dunbar, and Jetson Parascandolo; his brother Andrew Gregowicz; sister Barbara Traynor (John); sister-in-law Linda Gregowicz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws; and his beloved “Baby Dog” Piper.
