Robert Stephen Caldwell Sr.

Robert Stephen Caldwell Sr, 70 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

Born on January 26,1955 in Manassas VA, he was a son of the late Dolly (Dame) Caldwell and Charles Curtis Caldwell Sr. Robert (Bobby) worked his entire carrier in the mechanical and industrial industry. He worked his way up and was a true leader of men. He earned the respect as being a straight shooter and a man that would get the job done. Bobby devoted most of his years at Westvaco. He graduated in 1972 from Goose Creek High School, where he quarterbacked football and exceled in other sports. Bobby loved sports. Out of school, he participated in baseball as a player then later officiated and umpired games over 40 years. He helped put together programs for adults as well as children. He organized officials to cover games. 

Bobby traveled as an official with S.C.I.S.A.A. (private schools) with his friends and other officials, including his son Bobby Jr. He spent years on the sidelines at the Citadel. He was an avid Gamecock fan, whether they won or lost. Bobby loved playing golf when he got a chance. He loved going to the beach and traveling with family and friends. He loved meeting new people and finding out where they were from. He never met a stranger. He loved and worked hard for his children. He did everything he could to provide for them. He loved to make people laugh and never hesitated to throw in that bit of a shock factor; it was never a dull moment with B.C. around.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Curtis Caldwell Sr., Dolly Dame Caldwell and brother Charles Curtis Caldwell Jr.

Robert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leah Anne Kilcrease Caldwell; daughter Maranda Lynn Caldwell Reddish and husband Brian Fredrick Reddish; son Curtis Austin Caldwell; son Robert Stephen Caldwell Jr. and wife Tracy Spencer Caldwell; granddaughter Callie Ann Caldwell Surviving Wife of Charles Curtis Caldwell Sr., Linda Caldwell; brother Daniel Allen Caldwell and wife Shannon Jones Caldwell; children Iris Ruth Caldwell and Cullen Charles Caldwell, preceded in death by brother Sgt. Stephen Michael Caldwell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home; 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
