Robert Stephen Nemecek

Robert Stephen Nemecek, 68, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.  Born on September 18, 1955, in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Ann Marie Nemecek and Robert Joseph Nemecek.

Bob's determined spirit and unwavering commitment to his dreams defined his remarkable journey. A luminary in the business world, he was known for his work ethic, innovative thinking, and passion for creating opportunities.

After graduating from Berea High School in 1973 and Ashley University in 1977, Bob began his career in Detroit at Fafnir Bearing, where his sharp intellect and tireless work ethic quickly propelled him to success. Over the years, he was promoted for his excellence and forward-thinking, spending most of his career with Dodge and Rockwell Automation.  He retired in December 2017 where he served as Vice President of Sales for Baldor in Greenville, SC.  His ability to navigate challenges with resilience and grace set him apart as a leader in the business community.

Away from the boardroom, Bob was a loving husband to Kathy and a devoted father to Chad, Katie and Brooke.  He cherished his role as a provider, finding balance between the demands of his career and the joys of creating lasting memories with his loved ones especially coaching all three kids' soccer teams.  When he wasn't coaching, Bob was found enjoying a round of golf at Holly Tree Country Club, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, or enjoying trips to Folly Beach and Charleston, where he eventually retired to be near his grandchildren.

Bob loved to give back and was known to generously support various charitable causes that aligned with his values. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels for over 20 years and also mentored through Junior Achievement.  He believed in using his success to make a positive impact on the lives of others, leaving a legacy of compassion and generosity.

From the earliest moments of his childhood, Bob's heart belonged to the Cleveland Browns. He reveled in the highs and weathered the lows, embodying the true spirit of a loyal fan and season ticket holder for 35 years.

Bob was an amazing athlete on and off the field.  His dedication to sports and athletics landed him a sports and academic scholarship to Ashland University where he was named All-American his senior year.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy Nold Nemecek; children: Chad Nemecek, Katie Smith (Greg) and Brooke Carroll (Nelson); siblings, Debbie Nemecek and Rick Nemecek; and grandchildren: Corinne Smith, Madison Smith and Collins Carroll, along with a numerous beloved extended family members.

A memorial service to honor Bob's life and achievements will be held later in 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Meals on Wheels Greenville or Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina in Bob's honor.

Bob's drive, leadership, and enduring legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
