Listen to Obituary

Robert (Bob) W. Parrish, 79, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born in Sanford, FL, Bob was the son of the late Nellie and William Parrish.

Bob was a four-year veteran of the United States Navy. He served from 1965 to 1969 as a Radioman aboard the USS Everett F. Larson and the USS Topeka, where he earned the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. His active duty included combat deployments to Vietnam. He continued his public service after the Navy, working for various state and federal agencies, and retired from the Bureau of Land Management & Southern Nevada Field Office.

Bob loved gardening, traveling, and working in his garage wood shop. He was never one to turn down a camping or fishing adventure, even though the mosquitoes loved him more than the fish. He enjoyed cooking for his family, particularly large weekend pancake breakfasts or a Friday night showcase of “Papa Bobio’s” pizza. Bob was a history buff and an avid Ohio State football fan.

Bob was never shy about lending his tools or talents to friends or family in need or giving a helping hand in any way he could. His door was always open to friends and family when visiting or traveling through the area.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Michael and Anthony.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cathie; sisters Debra and Valerie; sons Robin (Debbie), Robert and Scott (Trish); daughters Amy and Rebecca (John); fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.
