Robert "Bob" Eugene Pelletier Sr., 98, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Born on November 25, 1926, in Salem, MA was the son of the late Delia Belanger Pelletier and the late Charles Pelletier.

Bob spent his childhood years growing up in Beverly, Massachusetts, where he attended school. At 18 and the country in the midst of World War II, he decided to leave school to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy in November 1944. During his 22-month enlistment, he served as Seaman First Class on the USS Cuttyhunk and the USS Ozark. Bob was honorably discharged in July of 1946. After leaving the Navy, he spent 25 years working for Bomac in Beverly, Massachusetts, which became Varian Associates. In 1949, he met his future wife and the love of his life. They married in February, 1951, and enjoyed 68 amazing years together. In 1952, they began their family in Beverly, Massachusetts, having three children over the next five years. In 1960, the family moved to their long-time home in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. Bob’s life was dedicated to love of family and created many lifetime memories from his active participation in the Boy Scouts, his years coaching Little League, taking family ski trips and family camping in the northeast and Canada. With the three kids active in sports, Bob and wife, Shirley, were avid supporters and were always present and cheering them on. Although much of his time was spent with family, Bob still found time to volunteer time to the community and the church. Once retired, Bob and wife, Shirley, embarked on the next chapter of their 68 years together. That chapter entailed traveling the country in their RV, visiting several of the country’s national parks. Their travel also included visiting family and friends around the country, along while spending winters in Florida and summers in New Hampshire. When the travel bug came to conclusion, they settled in the Charleston, South Carolina area, enjoying the beach, riding bikes, golfing, fishing, crabbing and making many new friends. When time allowed, Bob enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Bob’s strong faith kept him active in the Johns Island Presbyterian Church, where he attended Sunday services and enjoyed listening to Shirley sing in the choir. His life was an adventure, and he made the most of every day.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn "Shirley" Pelletier; parents, Charles Pelletier and Delia Pelletier; and son, Peter Pelletier.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Pelletier, Jr.; daughter, Jill Mailhoit; grandchildren: Jennifer Varum, Marcy Rossi, Christopher Mailhoit, Amy Bartlett and five great-grandchildren.
