Robert William Saunders, 84 of Ladson, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Born on December 4, 1941 in New York, NY, Bob was a son of the late Julia Keegan Saunders and Robert Saunders.

Bob served proudly for 22 years as a machinist in the Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran. After he retired from the Navy he worked at Merchant Seaman Command and then at Detyen's Shipyard. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Fluffy. He loved to fish and watch old Western movies. He was fluent in Spanish and Italian.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Concetta Saunders; sons: Robert Saunders (Mari) and John Saunders (Angelia); granddaughters: Kaitlyn, Breanne, and Giuliana; siblings: Julia, Kathleen, Carol, Jeanne, and Richard.

The mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1106 Fort Drive in Hanahan, SC. The burial will be immediately following at Carolina Memorial Gardens in North Charleston, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors and SPCA.
