Robert Thomas Sofield

Robert Thomas Sofield, 77, of Goose Creek, SC passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. 

Born on December 15, 1946 in Woodside, NY, he was the son of the late Rose Lamb Sofield and the late Harold Sofield. 

Bob was born and raised in Woodside Queens, NY.  He served in the US Army with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967.  After two years of serving he went into the computer field and worked as a main frame computer Engineer until his retirement in 2015.  Bob met his wife in New Jersey and eventually moved to South Carolina.  Bob had many close friends, especially from his childhood, and they would get together and reminisce of the good ole days.  He was affectionately called "Sofie" by his close friends and "Captain Bob" by others.  Bob was an avid fisherman and boater who enjoyed the outdoors.  He also enjoyed traveling with his wife of 32 years, working on his yard, and gardening.  He enjoyed woodworking and could start any project by reading about it.  He eventually built his own boat, fishing rods, and computer system.  He was an animal lover as well and enjoyed spending time spoiling them.  He will be remembered by his laughter, blue eyes, and generosity.  He will be missed and remembered by all.  Into the sunset you go!

Robert is preceded in death by his parents. 

Robert is survived by his wife, Lisa Sofield as well as many nieces and nephews.
