Russell Havens, Jr

Russell P Havens Jr., 64 of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

Born on March 10, 1958, in Fort Sill, OK, he was the Son Margaret Havens (Schanen) and the late Russell Havens Sr.

Russell graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1976, and followed his fathers’ footsteps and joined the Army.  Russell soon realized the Army life wasn’t for him and hung his uniform up after a 4-year service period.  Russell began working for the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) from where he retired in 2013 as a Project Manager.    

Russell thought the happiest day of his life was when his son Russell the III was born.  That all changed when he became a grandfather and went from Dad to PopPop.  Russell spent his retirement years spending time with family, boating, fishing and shooting sporting clays.  His favorite activity was spoiling his grandchildren. 

Russell is preceded in death by his father, Russell P. Havens Sr. and sister, Mary Gleason.

Russell is survived by his mother, Margaret Havens; son, Russell Havens III (Jessica); grandchildren, Ryland and Erin Havens; sister, Karen Johnson (Roy) all of Summerville, SC.

The service will be a private ceremony with only immediate family members present. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
