A proud Southern gentleman, Steve dedicated his life to the people and principles he cherished most. He attended The Citadel, where he developed the discipline, leadership, and character that would guide him throughout his life. Following his education, he proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Army and remained deeply honored to be a veteran.
Steve was a man of many passions. He loved football, enjoyed countless days on the golf course, and found peace and happiness fishing with family and friends. Yet above all else, his greatest joy was his family.
He was immensely proud of his four children and his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness and pride. His greatest accomplishment, however, was the beautiful life he shared with his beloved wife, Llawayne. Together, they built a marriage that spanned 70 remarkable years—a testament to enduring love, commitment, and partnership.
Steve’s family will forever carry forward the example he set: keep family close, treasure the people you love, and never miss an opportunity to tell them how proud you are and how grateful you are for the love they bring into your life.
His wisdom, quick wit, kindness, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly and in the values he instilled in each of them.
Steve S. Coleman leaves behind a family who will honor his memory by living the lessons he taught, cherishing one another, and carrying forward the values that defined his life.
Though he is gone, his love, example, and spirit will remain woven into the lives of those who knew him. He will be remembered always—with gratitude, with pride, and with love.
May he rest in peace.
Celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Wounded War Veterans.
Lord, give us grace to trust You when
Life’s burdens seem too much to bear;
Dispel the darkness with new hope
And help us rise above despair.
