Stephen Andrew Brush

Stephen Andrew Brush, 71, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024.

Born on May 23, 1953, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Dona Helberg Brush and the late Bert Brush.

Steve was a 2019 Hall of Fame football official inductee, a 2014 past president of the SCFOA, and his 46-year contributions to high school football were immeasurable. Additionally, Steve was the founder of the SC Hurricanes Fastpitch Softball Organization and coached both of his daughters. His legacy in officiating and his unwavering dedication to the games of football and softball will never be forgotten. 

Steve, lovingly known as Old Man, is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Sarah E. Brush; daughters, Susan Brush and Jennifer Edwins (Aaron); and grandchildren: Brooke Brunson, Abigail Edwins, Reagan Edwins, Summer Edwins, and Andrew Edwins. 

He is also survived by Edgar Brush (Sylvia), Tommy Brush (Kim), and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Drive, Charleston, SC 29412. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 pm also at James Island Baptist Church.
