Sylvia J. Anderson

Sylvia J. Anderson Lantz, 88, of Mount Pleasant, SC, entered into eternal rest on April 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born on June 10, 1933, in Timmonsville, SC, Sylvia was one of 10 children of the late John D. Jones and Ada Mae Lawhon. Surviving siblings include Myrna Wiggins of Florence, SC and Rachael Oliver (Ralph) of Longwood, Florida.

Sylvia is survived by 5 children, Tricia Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kenneth L. (“Kenny”) Anderson (Dee) of Houston, Texas, Tommy Anderson (April) of Charleston, SC, Susan Jones of Bangkok, Thailand, Richard Anderson (Liz) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jeryl Anderson (wife of Artie) of Greensboro, GA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren Stephen Anderson of New Jersey, Olivia Patino (Juan) of New York, Rachael Trucks (Blake) of Charleston, SC, Elizabeth Joplin (Blake) of Clemson, SC, Dominique Watkins (Sean) of California, Janelle Chojnowski (Mike) of Virginia, Jillian Brown (Bryan) of Tennessee, Gabriela Arciero of New York, Austin Blevins of North Carolina, Caroline Anderson of Texas, James Anderson of Texas, Katherine Lee Anderson of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Robert Anderson of Texas, as well as 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Arthur Eugene Anderson, Jr. and the Reverend John D. Lantz, her beloved daughter Deborah Ann Anderson, her most treasured son Arthur Eugene Anderson, III and her oldest grandchild Michael Thomas Anderson.

Sylvia was a loving mother and doting grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She spent countless hours volunteering at Blessed Sacrament School and at St. Andrews Playground watching her children play sports. She was known for her carrot cakes and okra soup, as well as her seamstress skills.

A memorial service will take place at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation at 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. The rosary will begin at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of her life.
