William Devon Bloodsworth, 66, of Hollywood, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Born on May 21, 1959, in Mobile, AL, William was the son of Frances Godwin Bloodsworth and Devon Bloodsworth.
William “Blood” Bloodsworth grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Ben. C. Rain High School in 1977. He attended the University of South Alabama, participated in Army ROTC, and was commissioned a 2LT. He attended U.S. Army Airborne School, became Special Forces qualified, and initally served with the 20th Special Forces Group (Alabama National Guard). He met his wife at the Adjutant General Officer Basic Course in Fort Ben Harrison, Indiana, and they both served as Majors in various Army Reserve units in New Jersey, New York and Virginia. William and Nancy were married for almost 37 years.
In addition to his active Army Reserve service, “Blood” pursued many diverse careers. He was a cosmetologist, salesman of various products, newspaper circulation manager, food and beverage manager and a fundraising manager.
During his life he enjoyed surfing, riding motorcycles, fishing, and composing and recording Christian songs. Moving to Charleston in 2013, he perfected (almost!) his most beloved of pastimes - golf. Playing often, especially at Stono Ferry, he was particularly proud of his 2 holes-in-one.
On December 1, 2019, a vehicle accident rendered Blood a quadraplegic. For over 6 years he fought valiantly to overcome his disability. He pursued therapy, research studies and training at his home “gym” in order to function and walk again so he would not be a burden to his beloved family. His family and friends enjoy visualizing him walking and “helping out” in Heaven!
William is survived by his wife, Nancy Bloodsworth; son, Devon Bloodsworth; daughter, Erica Bloodsworth; grandson, Bastian; granddaughter, Stella; parents, Frances and Devon Bloodsworth; and sister, LorieAnn Hardeman.
