WILLIAM E. (Bill) HALL, JR.

RMCM(SS) USN, (Ret)

Bill Hall of Summerville SC, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Born in Durant, OK on October 28, 1943 he was the son of the late William E. Hall, Sr. and Neville U. (Carpenter) Hall. He is pre-deceased by his parents and two sisters Bettye and Barbara. In addition to his wife of 62 years, Barbara J. (Dennis) Hall, he is survived by a son, Wesley Hall (Laura) and daughter Kimberly Hall-Cote (Joey), 6 grandchildren, Amber, Jenna, Kylie, Elizabeth, Kinsey and Joey, and 3 great-grandchildren, Teagan, Aurora and Colton, and his sister Norma. His truck buddy was his white Labrador Izzy that thought if his truck moved, she was supposed to be in it.

Bill attended school in Carlsbad New Mexico and entered the Navy in 1962. His Naval career consisted of sea tours on USS Henry Clay, USS Simon Bolivar, USS Lewis and Clark and USS James Madison (COB). His shore tours consisted of Basic Naval Training, San Diego CA, Radioman "A" School San Diego CA, Basic Submarine School New London CT, Naval Communication Station Washington DC (Pentagon OPNAV), Naval Communications Area Master Station (NAVCAMSMED) Naples Italy, CIC NTCC Capodichino Italy, CIC NTCC Agnano Italy and Director Navy Marine Corps Military Affiliate Radio Station, Region Two, Charleston SC.

Bill retired from the Navy in 1987 as RMCM(SS) but continued working in the Submarine Communication field. He worked another Twenty years as a subcontractor and retired again in 2008 as VIRGINIA Class Submarine Exterior Communications System Program Manager at ITT Corp., subcontractor for Electric Boat Groton Ct. His most responsible and rewarding job in the Navy was Chief of the Boat (COB) and after retirement was on the Electric Boat VIRGINIA CLASS Submarine Exterior Communications System (ECS) Design, Integration and installation teams.

After complete retirement Bill settled in as a complete home body entertaining his wife Barbara and playing with grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved working on old cars and trucks and would work for years in the rebuilding of them until they met his complete satisfaction.

Bill was a Life member of SUBVETS National and SUBVETS Charleston Base, Member of the SUBVETS Charleston Base Holland Club, Member of the Navy Fleet Reserve Branch 269, Member of the National Street Rod Association and Good-Guys Rod & Custom Association.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, 8th of October 2023, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation - Goose Creek, 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Goose Creek Fleet Reserve Association Branch 269 will be conducting the Two Bell Service at 6:30 PM.

The service will be private as well as burial.
