William Pendleton Jones

William Pendleton Jones, 89, of Summerville, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. 

 Born on April 20, 1934 in Louisville, KY was a son of the late Virginia Jones (Blackard) and William Jones of Darlington, South Carolina. William was a descendant of John William Jones who was a Chaplain to Robert E. Lee in Virginia. 

William graduated from the University of South Carolina and was an avid Gamecock Fan. Mr. Jones spent 30 years as an educator and was principal at South Fant and New Prospect Elementary Schools in Anderson, SC. Following his retirement William and his wife, Gail, spent 15 years in Lexington, SC on Lake Murray to be closer to Williams-Brice Stadium and attend many Gamecock sporting events. William thoroughly enjoyed his time on Lake Murray and spent many days on his pontoon boat fishing. William spent his final years in Summerville, South Carolina at the Village at Summerville Presbyterian Home. 

William is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gail Jones; and a sister, Martha Beacham (Frank) of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
