William Ronald Walters Sr.

William "Billy" Walters, Sr., 82, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Born in Erwin, North Carolina, on February 7, 1943, Billy was the son of the late Sim and Annie Bell Walters. He graduated from Erwin High School in the Class of 1962.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Richard Walters and Joe Walters, and his sister Mageline Turlington.

Billy proudly served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1983, retiring with the rank of SK1(SS). Following his military career, he continued his service to the country by working at the Naval Weapons Station from 1985 to 2005 in ordnance and as a police officer.

A true family man and community supporter, Billy found joy in coaching softball, baseball, and football. He loved playing softball himself, spending time fishing, and most of all, cherishing time with his family and friends.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Patricia "Trisha" Walters. He also leaves behind his children: William "Bill" Walters, Jr., Michael Walters (Sandra), and Karen Burgoyne (Jammie); grandchildren: William "Trey" Walters III (Holden), Jake Burgoyne, Jenny Burgoyne (Cory), Jared Burgoyne (Emily), Michael Walters (Cheyenne), Matt Walters (Mckenzie), and Abby; and great-grandchildren: Jacob, Lyla, CJ, Reece, Nyah, Abigail (deceased), Lily, and Everlie.

Billy is also survived by his loving sisters, Cara Mae Horne and Anne Thompson.

He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, warm heart, and the lasting legacy of love and strength he leaves behind.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation in Goose Creek with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM.
