William Benjamin Yarborough

William Benjamin Yarborough Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at his home in West Columbia, South Carolina. Born on June 5, 1938, in Winnsboro, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Thomas Greg and Nannie Brown Yarborough.

A man of profound faith and dedication, William proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he continued his life of public service as a dedicated Police Officer for the City of Columbia, protecting and serving his community with honor.

William was a man who found joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. He was an avid gardener and bird watcher, often spending hours tending to the earth and admiring the nature around him. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he gave his time generously to his community, volunteering faithfully at his home church, Springdale Baptist Church.Family was William’s greatest treasure. He was the devoted husband of 67 years to Brenda Branham Yarborough. Together, they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion. He was a loving father to his sons, Billy and Scott Yarborough; a proud grandfather to Ashley, Ben, Shelbie, and Tim; and a doting great-grandfather to Trinity Grace, Jaxon Hunter, and Arabella Rose. His legacy of faith, hard work, and unconditional love will live on through them.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Springdale Baptist Church. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 11AM-12PM in the Sanctuary, followed by the Funeral Service from 12PM-1PM. Following the service, William will be laid to rest at Union Memorial Presbyterian Cemetery at 2:30PM in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
