The family of Willie James Lynch of Charleston, South Carolina is saddened to announce his passing on November 28, 2025 at the age of 83 years.
Born on January 6, 1942 in Florence, SC, Willie was a son of the late Elma Hickson Lynch and James Wylie Lynch.
He is remembered for his integrity, kindness, generosity, strength, resilience, and self-discipline, as well as a devoted, loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was an attentive listener, always giving the benefit of the doubt, wise beyond measure, and understanding.
Some of our best times were spent in silence in his garage as we always knew, good or bad, just his presence made everything 1000% better. Congregating in his garage holds special memories for his friends, neighbors, and family, as it was abundantly filled with love, laughter, and fun.
He enjoyed world travel, fishing, boating, college football, baseball, and music.
He was truly a car enthusiast, mastering everything from all mechanical aspects to restoring classics to competitive racing. His mechanical aptitude for ships began in the U.S. Navy and was later displayed as he excelled in his career at the Charleston Naval Shipyard from Shop 31 to his position at retirement as Planner and Estimator. He was a positive influence to all he encountered, encouraging at all times, a genuine, sweet spirit.
Willie is survived by his two daughters: Lori A. Schultz (Earl) and Teresa E. Woodard (Steve); sister, Burdette Caraway; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one nephew, and numerous cousins.
He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, warmth, and courage that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at 2:00pm at Faith Church, 303 North Goose Creek Boulevard (Hwy. 52), Goose Creek, SC 29445.
